The "gun culture" in America isn't really responsible for a meaningful number of deaths. The "gun culture" people who celebrate firearms are wholly distinct from the people who use guns to kill people.

Looks like "gun culture" to me. How else would you describe it?

If they were the "gun culture" people I'm thinking of they wouldn't be showing such blatant disregard for gun safety in those pictures. They're just gang members.

Those pistols are hi-points (at least the one in the top picture on the right). They are pretty much the cheapest, ****tiest pistols on the market. They are best known for their use by gangs that can't afford better.

          Disrespectful of their weaponry.

THAT is gun culture. The glorification of guns and gun violence, the primacy of guns in people's lives. What else could it possibly be but gun culture

Strike one: They have cheap, ****ty guns which no self-respecting gun enthusiast would ever own
Strike two: That shotgun is missing its stock, wtf.
Strike three: Blatant disregard for gun safety
              * Trigger discipline: The guy with the shotgun has his finger in the trigger guard.
              * Keeping the muzzle in a safe direction until you're ready to shoot: The guy in the second picture with the handgun is pointing it at the camera, which is probably being held by someone. Not safe. In the third picture, some idiot is pointing a revolver DIRECTLY AT THE CAMERAMAN HOLY ****.
              * Keep your guns unloaded if you're not shooting: I strongly suspect those guns are loaded, although I have no solid evidence to support this. They all appear to have magazines inserted and their actions aren't locked open.

Not gun people. Violence people. For them, guns are a means to an end, not something to enjoy in themselves.

I believe that's the shotgun that I own. Close, for sure. The one pictured has a pistol grip attached, which mine has as well.

It's a Remington 870 with what is probably an 18 inch barrel along with an extended magazine, no stock, and a really terrible finish.

I, for one, will cling to my guns and religion.

I own a gun because I want to. It is a free country. Well...at least it used to be.....

Mine is a Mossberg Persuader 12 gauge with 18" barrel.

Hmm, it could be a Mossberg then. I didn't realize the receivers were so similar. But judging by the location of the takedown pins I'm going to stick to my Remington 870 hypothesis.

Please. Guns are cool to them. Why do you think they're posing with them? It's more than just a means to an end.

Those images are gun glorification at its apex.

What about gun-laden lyrical imagery in much of 90's rap? Not gun culture, either?

Gun culture and glorification extends beyond your little whitebread world.

To gun people like me it's not glorification.

This is the kind of thing that gun people like:

                            That is a nice-looking gun.

If I were to pose with a gun, I would have it unloaded and pointed in a safe direction. I would be posing in a way that shows off the gun, not the fact that I am holding it and capable of using it.

I agree with all, and that is a nice rifle.
