Given MtG was obviously enlisted himself, yes, you can expect that to be his opinion. Sort of like respecting the hard working farmhands and disrespecting the guys in the office pushing papers around.

I don't see how anyone could reasonably expect a group of people consisting of 22-25 year olds who have managed to graduate from college to be worse on the whole than high school-or-less educated 18 and 19 year olds.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Those 22-25 year olds have a lot more responsibility to **** up.

Good thing I'll be 28 twelve days after commissioning

Yes, MtG, you're old as dirt. Nice to see geniality didn't come with age.

Aren't you a bit past your sell by date Al?

And do second lieutenants really have that much responsibility? If I were one, I'd just let my sergeant do most of the work/make most of the decisions and watch what he did until I got promoted to first lieutenant.

Nope. 28 at the time of commissioning is the cutoff without needing an age waiver. I'll be 27.991, decidedly not 28 and therefore didn't require a waiver.

Well, the good news is that when you flunk out, that's it, you can't keep wrecking your life for this.

Nah, he'll just try out for the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, where the age cutoff is somewhere around 40. 10 more years of failure to go!

Nope. OCS comes first. You commission through OCS and then attend The Basic School as an officer.

And I highly doubt NROTC is anything like OCS I wish I could help you understand how it's like two different worlds. Think if ROTC was 24 hours a day with Marine instructors and you would get maybe half of how different they are.

I can't see you playing **** **** games at ROTC, either.

I was talking about Army, not USMC/Navy. Obviously with NROTC Marine Options there's a difference. But I believe the Marine midshipmen go to TBS anyway.

You learn the same stuff in ROTC, at least between Army ROTC and Army OCS (Source, OCS commissioned officer in my Cadre). The key difference between OCS and ROTC is that while in ROTC the bull**** (and curriculum) comes in a steady trickle over four years, in OCS it comes like a fire hose.

Nope NROTC and Naval Academy go to OCS, too. Every Marine Officer has to do OCS.

Have you played any **** **** games in ROTC? You would know what they are if you have.

                        Uh, no?

My guess is, whatever's under the *'s is about some thoroughly retarded expression of machismo and masochism tangentially related or totally unrelated to actual leadership skill.

It's the F-word twice. It's not about leadership. I'm not sure why they do it but they do. Instant obedience to orders, I guess.

It's one of the many reasons why ROTC is nothing like OCS and why midshipmen still do OCS.

For Army that kind of thing I believe is done at LDAC, in between getting lectures from E-2s on leadership.

                                Not going to happen.

                                And I didn't fail. I was NPQ'd for fractures.
