Those statistics have already been posted in this thread somewhere and they don't seem to say that. Even if it were so, I don't see a difference between murdering someone because they are in a rival gang and murdering your mother and a bunch of children at the school she worked at, or shooting your brother for sleeping with your wife, or any other reason people choose to kill for.Originally posted by MichaeltheGreat View Postreg's actually right on that one. I can't be arsed to look up all the links, but FBI/DoJ crime statistics database bears out what reg posted.I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?

It's not essential that you see the difference. It is essential for people (e.g. law enforcement, judicial system, mental health and other community services) who are involved in crime prevention/reduction efforts to see the difference.Originally posted by Kidicious View PostThose statistics have already been posted in this thread somewhere and they don't seem to say that. America was never meant to be a democracy, and you're the reason why.Originally posted by Kidicious View PostDemocracy is supported by the premise that the common man is reasonable. Less than 20 % are crime related and approx half is civil disputes FBIWith or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I've always found myself being more polite when speaking to people holding a gun.
The U.S. already has one of the highest, if not highest, percentage of its population in prison.
The problem isn't people with guns...it is a cultural breakdown.
More laws aren't needed...more effort needs to be put into breaking the cycle of violence and hopelessness that fuels all types of violence.
I dare say that if the killer in CT had doused the kids with gasoline and set them afire that no one would be discussing banning gasoline...they would be discussing the real issue (hopefully!)"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

You are in some way right, but it's not sane to say that US has a more violent trait and that is the reason that these things happens. That is common to most societies around the world. The difference is that in the US you have free and unlimited acces to effective killing tools. You mention gasoline but forget that every human being is equipped with dangerous killing tools such as teeth and nails though barely uses those. Guns, on the other hand are a simple and distancing tool that only has one purpose - killing - and has neen honed over the years to be more and more effective.Originally posted by PLATO View PostI've always found myself being more polite when speaking to people holding a gun.

As long as guns are tolerated in the society, there will be more of the latest murders and it's the price that a society have to pay as long as they accept free acces to such. With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. Well, lumping together dying of old age, swamp fever and people dying from living close to smokers it's easy to prove that second hand smoking will kill youOriginally posted by MichaeltheGreat View PostHe lumped those together.
I'm not claiming that reg is dishonest, just that he's mindlessly spouting the fallacies repeatedly claimed by the NRA nutcases

True, that is democracy, but isn't the outcome of US elections decided on the amount of money poured into the election
