No one is "forced by law". There's no law mandating the workplaces require union membership. There's simply a failure to enact a law forcing workplaces to not do so.

Union dues used to fund strikes, serve as a safety net for workers, and generally fund activities that all union members could agree to. Now it's just a fund raising device for one of the two main political parties. A party that one third of union members oppose. But you still think that anybody who doesn't pay up is a "free rider".

Because a third of their membership opposes the candidate. If a business does something you disagree with, it's easy to buy from their competition. But finding a new job is a lot harder than a new place to buy pizza.
