  • I'm surprised you're not bashing Costco for paying their employees better.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

    • Why would I? They actually expect some work from their employees and pay market rate. As opposed to other useless retail workers that have no meaningful life or work skills, one can at least point to handling heavy equipment as a requisite for the Costco positions.

There goes MrFun again, assuming that everybody else is a horrible person. You know, if you gave people the benefit of the doubt, you might actually learn something. But if you spend your whole life convinced that you alone know the truth and everybody else is evil, then you're no better than those Westboro *******s.

            • If y'all think that certain groups of people need more money, why not levy a general tax and use the proceeds of that to give them some? Why are you specifically forcing their employer to ante up?

Question: Is it legal to fire employees without due cause in RTW states?

                    Generally not but it depends:

Every state is different, and then you have the overlaying federal schema too. Most states, RTW and otherwise, are expressly "at will" unless company policy or a CBA provides for specific cause requitements and progressive discipline requirements. California is expressly an "at will" state, meaning an employee can be termed (or quit) any time, with or without warning and with or without cause.

Most at will states have various public policy exceptions, a couple have none - for example, you can't term an employee for filing a wage claim in California, or being a whistle-blower, etc. In a couple of states, if you observed your boss (e.g. Sandusky at Penn State) sodomizing a kid and you intervened and called the police, the employer can term you for those specific reasons without the former employee having any recourse.

                      • It's **** like that that makes America a moral backwater. I'd say *****ing about RTW is less important that sorting out that crap.

At will employment encourages employers to hire, so that they don't have to worry they'll be saddled with deadweight.
