I don't remember giving any opinion about Fun's knowledge of working at all. I don't know what his work experience is, so there wouldn't be any point in passing judgement on it.

The choice here is between 'high wages with low employment’ and ‘more people being employed.’

PS The median hourly wage in RTW states was $15.31/hour vs $16.89/hour in non RTW states according to the right wing and racist Bureau of Labor Statistics. The unemployment rate is also on average lower in RTW states vs non-RTW states.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Presumably they don't see the value of the unions and the 'benefits' they bring to the table and resent being compelled to buy its services.

I pay my non-union workers $19 an hour. Because that's competitive.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

          • Exactly. Employers always pay what the market is. If the positions can't be filled the salaries need to be ante'd up.

Yes, let's have more people employed at lower wages, so we can increase the level of poverty in our country, and force more of the working poor onto welfare.

I'm not aware of any retail workers who earn $15.31 an hour, or $16.89 an hour.

              • I am. When I worked in the grocery store, I'm pretty sure the assistant managers made that much or more. All of them were cashiers or worked in stocking before they became assistant managers.

Oh yeah, the company also prided itself on being nonunionized. I told the guy who hired me, "good, because if it was, I would be exercising my RTW rights." His response was "that's the spirit."

                  • Ogie, your "fixing" of my post would make sense, if there were no people who work, who still need welfare in order to live.

Point being of course is that they presumably need less due to wages earned. Furthermore, the real point is it becomes a stepping stone to something more.

Costco is an example of how retail workers should be treated. But unfortunately, Costco seems to be an anomaly.

Costco is actually a sweet gig. Decent pay and you learn valuable work skills like fork lift training and how to run over customers.
