I don't understand why non-union workers would be angry about paying dues, when they get the same benefits obtain through a union's collective bargaining.

Presumably they don't see the value of the unions and the 'benefits' they bring to the table and resent being compelled to buy its services.

I am. When I worked in the grocery store, I'm pretty sure the assistant managers made that much or more. All of them were cashiers or worked in stocking before they became assistant managers.

Oh yeah, the company also prided itself on being nonunionized. I told the guy who hired me, "good, because if it was, I would be exercising my RTW rights." His response was "that's the spirit."
