But it would sedate him, to a degree. Don't we want that to happen?

Mostly because hemp was competing with cotton so during the depression cotton growers banded together to have it outlawed even though hemp cannot be smoked. Or rather you can smoke it but it won't get you high. The cotton growers didn't care much about that distinction though.

            Makes sense. Not.

Don't they sell drugs out in Potomac?

It's one of the theories any way.

I'm sure that the anti-weed coalition was formed by different groups of people with different motivations.

The main reason it's not legal is it stays in your system too long and it's not like booze where there's an easy test to see if you're too intoxicated to drive.
If everyone that was at a concert could be considered illegal to drive home you have some big issues. If someone sold you a joint and could still be considered liabel for you when you got into an accident 2 weeks later.
The best they'll be able to do is decriminalize it.

It's easy to tell if somebody is too intoxicated to drive. Cops can look for swerving and other problems. If you're driving safely, and just happen to be a little stoned, that's not a problem for society.

Someone tried telling me one time that a person who is high on marijuana is actually more likely to drive much more safely than someone who is drunk.

The only people I hear that from are my friends who are trying to justify driving down the interstate at 80mph because they have the munchies for taco bell.

Smoking dope make you stupid, that's why.
