The controversy is over the fact that for weeks the President insisted that the attack was over some video, and then proceeded to have the man who made the video that nobody watched and nobody cared about arrested on trumped up charges! This is despite the fact that it was obvious to everyone else that it was a terrorist attack. And that multiple organs of the government knew that it was a terrorist attack and possibly knew about it ahead of time. Considering that calling it a terrorist attack doesn't fit with the administration's everyone-hates-us-and-it's-our-fault worldview, and also that it doesn't mesh well with saying Obama has been a hard-charging foreign policy success, there are multiple unseemly explanations for the lack of transparency from the administration.
