  • I'd be interested in what they had to say about socialism since I doubt the concept existed at the time of the Revolution.

Face it, your future is as just another whiny, worthless little socialist screaming for his free ride.
You don't see what making a living by forcing other people to work for you without compensation has to do with free markets and self sufficiency? Okay. I'm guessing you're a product of one of those failing public schools you keep whining about. Slavery wasn't the thing where blacks sat in the back of the bus, that was segregation. Slavery was where blacks were considered property.

      • Not everyone owned slaves during that time. Yes, you can argue that holding slaves goes against that idea, but I'm not sure how that changes the basic idea of free markets and self sufficiency and somehow reinforces the moral superiority of your communist views? You should take responsibility for your own failings and weakness. It's practically dripping from your posts. Also, not all the founding fathers were for slavery, and in fact many who had owned slaves before the revolution freed them after the revolution. Your attempt to somehow demean the virtues of free markets and self sufficiency, which predates the modern day slavery you refer to in case you didn't know, is laughable at best.

        • I think attempting to make an argument for free markets by saying what amounts to "the founding fathers said so" is pretty pathetic. Believe it or not, I'm not a Communist.

          • They're the ones who wrote the constitution and laid out the reason for its founding. You should just come out and admit that you don't like the principles the country was founded on and that you are in favor of changing the identity of the country. It's ok, most people when they fail try to blame the system for their inadequacies. You want to be taken care of much like MrFun wants to be taken care of, so you're going to vote in people who will give you handouts and tell you that it's not your fault you're a loser.

            • More Republican politicians should adopt that message. I loved it when Romney was caught on camera insulting half of the country. Who knows, maybe it cost him the election.

                • I see you're not even trying to deny what I said. The fact is that Republicans will never reach people who feel they deserve something and feel the government should provide it. It's why Chavez continues to get reelected and it's a self-sustaining cycle. As the number of people who think the government should provide for them increases, the number of politicians who will offer it and deliver it increases. Those policies hurt the economy, discourage achievement, and ultimately push more people down. The more people get pushed down, the more people demand handouts. I actually don't think the country has a future, not without a significant attitude change. No country has ever been built or survived when a populace no longer pursues its own individual success.

                  • Amazingly enough countries like Sweden are doing just fine. It's as if the voters there understand that being too extreme would hurt them or something.

47% of Americans don't pay income tax. Republicans shouldn't worry about those people because they will never vote for them.

They were pretty cool with land redistribution.

Do you really think the poor should get nothing from the oil revenues or their own country?

There's a special kind of brilliance attached to you being such a big fan of the founders who were basically the liberals of their day.
