If all of the voting in the election (in all states) is made through Diebold voting machines, this would be a very probable scenario.
Seems like they show their usual behavior, that we already know from former elections, i.e. refusing to let you vote for the democratic candidate

It's important to consider WHICH precints have reported. Precincts in the same region tend to report at around the same time. So, taking New Hampshire as an example, if every precinct reporting is in Rockingham County, and Obama is leading, it doesn't mean that much since that's the Boston commuter belt.

That doesn't really matter for the methodology of the poll. The way it works is this:

People who identify Republican: % voting for Romney, % voting for Obama
People who identify Independent: % voting for Romney, % voting for Obama
People who identify Democrat: % voting for Romney, % voting for Obama

Then you figure out how many "republicans," "independents," and "democrats" are going to vote.

This isn't precisely how it works but basically the methodology is not damaged by some "independents" being closet republicans.

Yeah, if you assume those groups are the same on the margins as they are on average.
