Where does it say in the constitution that the federal government should be responsible for providing health care?

Glad we moved on from one bit of nonsense to another.

Yes. You said 5/year. And according to the CBO Obamacare costs ~2 over the next ten years. 5/year over the next ten years is 50. Math sure is hard.

2 Trillion per year over ten years. You're smoking crack if you think that O-Care is going to be 200 billion a year.

Given what Canada spends on healthcare, that seems about right. Might even be lowball.
Canada spends less on healthcare than the US does currently.

In 2004, government funding of health care in Canada was equivalent to $US1,893 per person. In the US, government spending per person was $2,728

As a % of GDP, Canada's health spending is 11.3%.
The US' is, CURRENTLY, 17.9% of the GDP.

                You're a moron.

The US system is outrageously cost inefficient. But it's all those lefty socialists driving up the cost of healthcare, isn't it? Surely it's not a highly flawed private/HMO system? Blasphemy.

I am genuinely saddened at how stupid so many people are being here. Otherwise intelligent people.

It's almost like watching a cult.

Asher, I'm pretty sure the 17.9% includes both public and private.

                      edit: your link:
The US has the highest health spending in the world - equivalent to 17.9% of its gross domestic product (GDP), or $8,362 per person. And it's not all private - government spending is at $4,437 per person, only behind Luxembourg, Monaco and Norway
government funded health care is about 9.5% of the USA's GDP.

                        For Ben:
The latest CBO scoring of Obamacare, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision upholding the overhaul’s individual mandate as an allowable (although seemingly unprecedented) tax on inactivity, shows that President Obama’s centerpiece legislation would cost about $2 trillion over its real first decade (2014 through 2023).

It doesn't. That's why we have Obamacare now.
So then it's unconstitutional and we shouldn't be forced to pay for it.

That's not the way it works. The Supreme Court upheld it.

Robert's ruling permits states to opt out of it and takes away the enforcement mechanisms. The feds can attempt to enforce it but no one can be forced to pay the state money to breathe. Thankfully. Of course I'm sure Obama will attempt to intimidate everyone who disagrees with him, which seems to be his MO.

As for the costs, again - Obama's never been able to keep his lies straight. He's been running 1.5 trillion dollar deficits year after year.
