He probably won't be keeping his job come this election.

Becuase of the abortion, the affair, or professional ethics?

All three are probably disqualifying by themselves. Possibly not the third one. Together it's a ****storm. I really do doubt he'll be taking his seat again in January.

Be that as it may, why is yet another whining thread of complaint and tears? I have to add the congratulations that it wasn't a thread about more gay, or the South should be ashamed.
Having acknowledged that point, it was still just another cut and paste and leave thread. The only thing worse is the lazy ass that posts a link and leaves.

Wasn't there a Republican governor who had an affair with an Argentinian while in office? I don't recall his career being dimmed in the slightest.

Mark Sanford. He is no longer governor of South Carolina.

The South Carolina GOP did everything short of putting a gun to the man's head to get him to resign and he still refused to go. And before the scandal broke, he was being floated as a serious 2012 candidate.

I think "pro-life" people should be truly pro-life. Just today I took a **** which I am certain had loads of bacteria in it. Why aren't the pro-life people upset about all that life I just flushed down the toilet? Clearly, it will be hit with bleach and that life will end. Certainly someone who cares so much about life should care about that.

They should change their name to pro-human fetus.

I see the third one as the most serious.

I can understand the abortion when the man was under stress.

From the article it sounds like they had an open marriage, so the outside relationship is not infidelity, per se.

The lapse in professional ethics is the only serious concern.

Apparently breaking medical ethics was too easy and a little boring.
It's no wonder he doubled down and got into politics.

You'd think so, but he is a politician so professional ethics is a bit of a standing joke.

That, and, consider that he's in a district which almost certainly has a high population of evangelical Christians, who see abortion as murder. You can understand how in their eyes forcing someone to get an abortion would be morally worse than violating ethics in that case.

My understanding is that he was actually a pretty effective governor for the most part. However, even if the whole sex scandal thing doesn't bother you, going AWOL as the chief executive of the government of an entire state without telling anyone where you're going, how long you'll be gone, or even that you're leaving is disqualifying IMHO.
