On a related note, racist unions commonly supported minimum wage laws as a means of driving out black competition and employment, much as racist progressives supported abortion on demand to encourage the birth of fewer blacks generally. In other words, white racial entitlement politics, dressed up as progressivism, has had a very destructive effect on society. The problem partly lies in accepting that race exists as anything but the most basic general indicator of physical characteristics. Race can affect height or weight or physical appearance but nothing more. Those who construct an identity out of their height or weight or physical characteristics and assert their entitlement to benefits or victimhood as a result of those characteristics are really pushing the same line that has produced race riots, segregation and Jim Crow in the past. The Democrats supported all of the above then and they support racial entitlement laws now even if they have mostly abandoned its more severe expressions such as segregation or eugenics.
I know, I know, Walter Williams is racist and hates black people.Last edited by Zevico; September 20, 2012, 22:04."You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. This is why gay marraige matters.
Originally posted by HPI Have a Friend
I have a friend. He's a brilliant writer. He's into clothes and music and food. He probably spends too much time on Gawker. He's kind and supportive and a little snarky at times, too. He's also gay. His partner is a slightly older scientist of some kind. They've been together for 20 years and have lived together for the past 15. They have a happy life, full of supportive family and mutual friends. They saw no need to formalize their relationship after New York began recognizing same-sex marriages.
Recently, they were away together in Colorado. My friend's partner complained of pain in his back. It grew worse. They went to the hospital. Tests revealed nothing. The pain increased. Further tests showed no signs of any serious issue. The pain became unbearable. A third round of tests revealed a tumor on his spine. A tumor on the spine.
Throughout this ordeal my friend felt like a bystander. The doctors wouldn't speak to him, and the nurses treated him like an annoying friend of the family. He was family. This was his partner in terrible pain, thousands of miles from home in an inhospitable hospital. He couldn't provide -- and his partner couldn't receive -- the kind of comfort and input desperately needed from a loved one in such circumstances. He couldn't ask the doctors tough questions and push them for an appropriate diagnosis or realistic prognosis. He felt marginalized and discriminated against, all while his partner was being squeezed by the vice of immense pain and a potential death sentence.
The tumor turned out to be benign. Surgery was scheduled four days after they returned to New York. But before putting Colorado behind them, my friend and his partner went to City Hall. They got a marriage license and made plans for the wedding the following afternoon. And that day, I saw my friend in his best linen suit with a pink silk tie. He looked as empowered and elated as I'd ever seen him.
"Way to go, New York," I said.
"Yeah," my friend sighed with joy. "Yeah."

Zevico, ask any American poster here if the Nation of Islam is a threat. Do it.
The Nation of Islam is a joke. If you want to act like it's a threat, you're about 20 years too late. See, you might have been able to use your fear tactics back when Farrakhan organized the Million Man March, there were riots in LA, and almost every rapper (including platinum-selling rappers) from Rakim to Wu-Tang, Public Enemy to Ice Cube, Poor Righteous Teachers to Brand Nubian, was supporting the NoI and spreading their message.

Since they took a position I am glad to know where they stand.
Something tells me their northern expansion plans will take a very long time. It's doubtful they will ever make it here with that sort of philosophy.

Give me a black goddess sister, I can't resist her! No stringy haired, blonde hair, blue eye, pale skinned, buttermilk complexion, grafted recessive, depressive, ironing board backside, straight-up and straight down, no frills, no thrills, Miss 6 o'clock, subject to the itch, mutanoid, caucasoid, white cave *****!
"Cave *****" from Ice Cube's Lethal Injection album (1993)
Now it is time to stand up and fight back.… There are no good crackers, and if you find one, kill him before he changes.
Speech at Columbia University, quoted in Chicago Sun-Times (30 January 1994) "Some like Muhammad's Boldness"
I say you call yourself Goldstein, Silverstein, and Rubinstein because you're stealing all the gold and silver and rubies all over the earth — and it's true, because of your thieving and stealing and roguing, and lying all over the face of the planet earth.
Speech in Baltimore (19 February 1994), quoted in New York Times (28 February 1994) "Islamic Figure In New Tirade Against Jews"
Tell us you lost 6 million. Historians, scholars, scientists, they went to some of the death camps. It wasn't 6 million, it wasn't 5 million, it wasn't 4 million, it wasn't even 3 million. Some of them say we'd be hard-pressed to get 1 1/2 million. Reports on the 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis were bloated, exaggerated, probably fabricated.
Speech in Brooklyn, New York (29 March 1994) quoted in Antisemitism: Myth and Hate from Antiquity to the Present (2002) by Marvin Perry and Frederick Schweitzer
Look these bastards in the eyes, and if anyone attacks you, already decide who will be the one to disconnect the railing where you are, and beat the hell out of them, the no-good bastards! And if you don't have a gun, every one of them has one gun, two guns, maybe three guns. In self-defense, if they attack you, take their goddamn guns from them and use their guns on them! In self-defense. Giuliani is known for taking his police and sending them off in riots. If any one of these bastards riots here today, you take their nightstick the way they did brother Abner Louima and ram it up their behind and jam it down their damn throats!
Million Youth March (5 September 1998), quoted in The Village Voice (13 October 1998) "The Hunt for Khallid Abdul Muhammad" by Peter Noel
The white race is absolutely disagreeable to get along with in peace. No other people on the face of the earth have been able to get along with white people since white people have been on our planet.
Interview with Louis Theroux on Weird Weekends (2 June 1999)
Get outta town by sundown. I say if they don't get outta town,We kill the men, we kill the women,
we kill the children, we kill the babies, we kill the blind, we kill the crippled, we kill the crazy...
This doesn't concern the Democrats. Well the Democrats have cut this outfit a lot of slack, and some of them have even joined the Democrats. Enough for one of them, a Georgian Democrat lawmaker, to openly praise the Nation of Islam. That's what Democrats have created with their slack.
Tell me, how much slack are you willing to afford their future victims--black men and women caught up in a warped cult like the Scientologists nobody can stop laughing about? How long until their views are normal and mainstream?
Tell me, do you think the BNP is a "healthy outlet" whom people should "cut some slack" for? They use the same terminology and excuses you refer to here. They assert the existence of a minority under threat--subjected to violence--whites. And they go on and deny the Holocaust and belittle minorities as terrible.
Could it be because unlike the white supremacists, the black supremacists have never actually been in the supremacy?
So what, you'd like them to be? I mean really, who gives a damn whether they've been supremacy? This isn't a merry go round. We're not taking turns. Tens of millions of people have died because of acts of genocide and racism. The Nation of Islam thinks a little genocide could go a long way: it's openly called for genocide. Well, that way lies madness.
If you don't understand that then what can I say except-read. Read about the rise of Hitler. Read about the man of whom you are shockingly ignorant for a self-described conservative: Winston Churchhill. Read about the Holocaust. Read about Lenin and Stalin. Read about Sayid Al Qutb, about Ahmedinajad and Bin Laden. Read about Nasser. Read about Mao. These are the true forces of evil in this world. And as an antidote, read Tocqueville, read Burke, read the Federalist Papers, read Locke, read JS Mill, read Hobbes. Read Thomas Sowell: his books on Basic Economics and Intellectuals and Society are breaths of fresh air in an intellectually staid world.Last edited by Zevico; September 22, 2012, 08:55."You say that it is your custom to burn widows. If you really want to challenge me on the rise of Hitler, you had better be very, very sure of your research.
The problem with people like yourself trying to draw parallels to the nazis is that you always miss the main indicators that can lead to that kind of scenario, the chief one being that you have to have a huge potential base which already harbours the kind of resentments which can be manipulated into action. The reason the nazis were successful was due to a majority of Germans suffering under economic hardship, resentment over a world war they felt they were being unjustly punished for, deeply wounded nationalistic pride, fear over the recently emerged force of Bolshevism which had already risen and been put down in places like Munich, and of course nearly two millenia of anti-semitism which blended together to create a seething melting pot of anger, frustration and fear.
What is truly ironic is that the closest to a nazi parallel you can actually draw in modern America is the rise of the religious right with their endless drip feeding of immigrant fear, racial discord and liberal hate.
Then again of course, as with most people of your ilk, it's much easier to point at the scary dark skinned folk and sqeal about how they are just waiting to rise up and overthrow the poor innocent white people despite those white people comprising 72% of the population, being in the vast majority in the military, business, government etc etc.Last edited by kentonio; September 22, 2012, 09:15.

Wrong. A man who read Tocqueville would understand that the principles of the religious right are precisely those of the real democrats who founded the United States. What you call the religious right is an aspect of the US that has always existed and whose believers today encompass people of all ethnicities and backgrounds. The rise of the religious right is the rise of men like Rubio or Cain to positions of influence and power.Last edited by Zevico; September 22, 2012, 09:55."You say that it is your custom to burn widows.
