Sound like fun. In the summer of 1958, I stay with my Aunt. She lived just a few miles from the Runway at Castle AFB. Boy the B-52 and KC-135 were going over her house at about 300 to 400 feet. We could see into the wheel bay. One day a F-102 took off and as he pass over us he look down and saw my cousin and I waving to him. He wave back and then turn his 102 so we could see the afterburner and he lite it up and flew strait away from us and it was just about sun set. What a show.Originally posted by SlowwHand View PostWhen I was there, there were C-5, C-141, KC 135 and a SAC command. C-141 no longer in service. That was a good aircraft.
I remember the KC-135 engine runs, especially at night. Tremendously loud. A C-5 almost landed on me one foggy night. Max of 20 feet over me.

I liked the Air Force. At times, I think about had I stayed in; but then I remember, I wouldn't have the daughter that I have. Wouldn't want that to happen. Change one thing and you change all things that follow.

I was approached by two over here. They were extremely cute in a fresh faced American way- one dark, one blond. All I could think of when they were trying to inveigle me into praying and coming to a meeting, was what a threesome would be like with them, and if they were wearing their regulation Mormon underwear. There's a scene in, erm, an 'art' film called 'Buckleroos II', where pair of missionaries are.... shown some interesting rodeo routines by a cowboy. Very Tom Mix. Anyway...Originally posted by MrFun View PostYeah, you don't say. Out here in eastern Iowa somewhere at a convenience store/gas station, two Mormon guys were filling up their car while I filled mine up on the other side.
The two of 'em were very polite and well-spoken, but perhaps not the right ones to be trying to persuade a cynical atheist gay man to change his ways...Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

Superficially, yes, but you can only be so polite when you tell somebody they're going to hell.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostI don't really mind the Mormons who go around proselytizing. They're always very polite and respectful.
I don't even answer them anymore. Just shut the door before they start talking. Saves everyone time."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

People who have dignity don't go door to door trying to brainwash you.
I consider religion to be a personal matter and I consider proselytizers rude, condescending, and insulting regardless of their manners.
Are you also unfailingly polite to telemarketers?

Congratulations Mr. Fun!!!
May the Lord keep you safe and bless you upon your new journey!
Are you that hard up for a pretty girl to chat with you that you consider a proselytizer a great oppertunity?Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostRight. But so what? You got to chat with a pretty girl.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. You don't get the magic underwear until you are married, or sealed, in the temple. So, no, they weren't wearing it.Originally posted by molly bloom View PostI was approached by two over here.
