I would be okay with this.

I'll note, however, that the Mayor of Boston has not been banning Chikfila from Boston, or denying new licenses or what have you. He is, however, using the Bully Pulpit. If the owner of Chikfila wants to publically say he's anti-gay and so is his organization, fine, that's his right. It's the right of the Mayor of Boston to say that that kind of attitude isn't welcome around here.

The mayor of Chicago, on the other hand, has prevented Chick Fil A from opening new locations.

Yeah, You won't see me holding up Chicago Politics as a beacon of honest and fair governance. Not more than, say, DC.

I'm half a mind to take away DC's home rule, since voters there seem bent on proving themselves incapable of democracy.

If anyone's still interested in the opening post, after about five seconds work with Google I concluded that the Mayor wasn't referring to, or quoting from, the particular one that Albie is offering as the source.

Really. That's certainly a valid point.

Well, the clues are there in the fact that the Mayor is clearly quoting words such as "prideful" which don't actually appear anywhere in the proffered interview. I'd hope that would get a few alarm bells ringing, but it looks like people are just desperately keen to swallow whatever the internet tells them to think.

My money is on him referencing this interview- http://www.towleroad.com/2012/07/cathycomments.html

                And possibly others besides.

People think that if a person takes the time to write something, it must be true. Basically what you said.
I like these hoax buster sites. Email, posts. Look it up. Maybe it's true, partially true or total fabrication.

It's amazing how many people can post so much stupid **** in one thread. So being against bigotry makes you a bigot and a mayor is unconstitutional to try and stop bigots coming to his city? Wow, America is hilarious these days.

I'm sorely tempted to do a little digging and see how many of the people up in arms in this thread were equally up in arms about the campaign to try and stop that mosque being built in NY a year or two back.

Yes. Unlike Europe, America actually values freedom.

The truly, truly funny thing is that you poor ****ers actually believe that.
