Ice T is right that this country is based on guns. There's a reason why the Second Amendment is fanatically supported by people as diverse as gun-toting Southerners to Black nationalists.

I'm surprised that redneck hicks and inner-city gangsters agree that they think they should be able to own assault rifles.

Sometimes you just have to realize stupid people are stupid. And frankly, anyone who thinks gun ownership makes the USA a great country is stupid. It's so obviously one of the major flaws in the country, but Americans are more likely to just point fingers at other races or socioeconomic classes and convince themselves that the reason they have outrageous gun violence is for reasons other than outrageous levels of gun availability.

The sad part is the gun lobby has been so strong for so long (IIRC in the 1940s only 25% of people thought handguns should be legal, now it's 66% of Americans or something), that there's **** all they can do about it now. You can't ban guns or even control guns in a realistic way in the US. There's too many of them and they last too long. No matter what happens, it's a problem Americans have to deal with. Sadly, it's a problem they deal with by buying more guns.

Americans seem to want to have a cold war on a personal level. At what point do we start equipping our children with guns to fend off bullies or school shooters? Why the **** not?
