Since another pregnancy would be extremely dangerous and possibly fatal for Mrs Flubber and because we have been demonstrated to be extremely fertile together, this was our best option.

My laser eye surgery was more unpleasant and invasive and the only difference it has made in my life is to render me infertile ..... a result which was very much desired. Children are wonderful but very tiring. Even without a medical concern, I would not want more children.

Part of 'do no harm' would preclude sterilization, because you are undergoing surgical intervention to destroy part of the body that is working properly.
