I've seen it with StarCraft, with Diablo (though Diablo 3 does have definite flaws), with the Total War series, etc. People are crazy when it comes to their game series they played for years. The newest iteration is terrible compared to their memories of the old games.

Diablo III is terrible. I love Diablo II, still playing it. Won't ever play Diablo III. Some of us LIKE playing single player and playing on a LAN with friends rather than dealing with the douchebag PPKers on BNet. Especially those of us who experiment with HC builds.

The purpose of forcing you to play on Battlenet is to stop people playing pirated copies on LAN only. Nothing to do with user choice or convenience. Most people (including me) think that punishing paying users to prevent piracy is a bad move, but we might as well get used to it or not buy the game.

They have provided the passworded game option for private games though. That is the option now.

It's a perfectly valid reason not to buy the game.

Maybe I'm the exception, but I'm not one of the folks who gets rushed up all the way to Hell Baal, and then spends my time farming.

I still haven't managed to reach Hell HC yet with any of my builds (came close a few times), but I play usually solo and untwinked.

Played some long games with my brother on a mod that significantly increased difficulty, and we did get to hell.

Diablo III, meets exactly zero of my desires for gameplay. I'd rather play a well-built mod on SP than play on Battlenet.

The Summer Sale which they have every year and that I told you about in a different thread.

Also, CiV has enough to try out to keep things interesting for a while, but I've not found that it wants to make you replay as one game is very much like another. Civ IV also had an awesome MP community. CiV does not because they made no attempt to deliver a good MP experience and forget everything they should have learnt from CivIII and CivIV MP.

I'm assuming PPKer isn't a thing but you means to say PKer as in player killer. There's no PKing in Diablo 3 so you're saying some people like playing on LAN with friends rather than dealing with PKers on Bnet is not a criticism of Diablo 3 because there's no PKing in Diablo 3.

Diablo 3 is not a good game but you can't make that judgment without playing it. Granted, I can see doing your research but you apparently haven't the way you talk about PKers in Diablo 3.

I'm saying it's a terrible game for me, in that it does not permit me to play single player, offline. Others I'm sure will greatly enjoy the game, but I am not going to purchase it.
