Perhaps I'm overqualified? I dunno. I also wonder if I"m seen as a jack of all trades, master of none (which is true). I have three versions of my resume, one that covers my "professional" experience in youth rights, plus education and stuff. One that has all that plus all the various crappy odd jobs I've worked on the side for the last several years. The last one has the professional experience and a long list of media appearances and spots I've been published. I always send out the first one. I figure no one I'm applying to is going to care that I spent two years delivering newspapers and working at an auto parts store on the side, it'd probably hurt me. And the one with all the articles... I dunno, I'm decidedly not looking for a communications job, so I didn't think it'd help me to list everything. Could it look weird that I only list one employer? I worked there for 12 years though, so you'd think they'd like the stability. I don't know...
You do much ad work Ozzy? I wouldn't limit yourself to non-profits. You've got the skills and experience (12 years!) that most folks don't have. Also what about working as a lobbyist?

Ever thought about contracting yourself as media relations to small businesses? I've done a bit of work along those lines, it's a bit different from what you are used to, but if you have the relationship with the media, that's something you can trade on to small businesses. One firm I worked for about 2 years, I was doing all their media work for them. Was fun, got to roll around with some muckety-mucks. If you shine on tv and in interviews, that's something you have to sell.

      What about something like Nikelodeon?

What do you want to do, Ozzy? Forgive me if you answered this already.

Albie, the shinebox thing gives me a great idea. Print up a few dozen resumes, get some shine stuff and offer free shines and resumes in midtown or the fidi. That type of novelty **** works wonders.

If he does that, he needs to find himself a boater, striped shirt, + bow tie. Dress pants and dress shoes.

Guarantee you that if he does that, someone will give him a shot!

When I start working as a bellhop, one of my responsibilities will be shoe shining. Let me get the hang of it being done professionally at this hotel first. After my first day, I'll then get the polish and hit up downtown.

Whoa whoa as enlisted? Won't that mean people will boss him around?

If the alternative is no job, then I agree that every job is a good job, otherwise no.

Alby, if you send me your actual résumé I'll make it look real nice for ya. I've helped at least 10 friends get jobs by tweaking theirs in the past couple years.
