Get bent. I will take whatever is on my account as my responsibility any day. I don't need history's biggest marketing trick to live my life trying to be a good person for those around me.

      • If the RCC suddenly proclaimed that they supported Gay Marriages, would you support it?
If a segment were to break off and call themselves the RCC and proclaim that they supported gay marriage, and schism away? No. We've been through this before with many, many different groups. They believe that Christ teaches X, so they go and form their own church where Christ believes X.

That is clearly not what he asked.

Are you stupid or are you a coward?

            • 1. You are being deliberately stupid
              2. You are being brainwashed
              3. You actually can't understand what people are trying to say to you.
              Answer the question Dannubis.

              1. It is actually a fact that higher education does not teach people to support abortion.
You just said, "nobody supports abortion". Ergo, this statement rests on an erroneous preposition. I'll rephrase it. Higher education teaches that women have a right to abortion. Yes or no? Ergo, the more higher education that someone gets the more likely they are to believe this to be true.

you also accept that gay people can get married
Then why are Christians called intolerant for believing contrary? Surely if religious freedom, as you have stated, actually exists, then they have every right to express said opinion. If you were sincerely tolerant, you would support them for expressing an opinion contrary to your own.

              2. YES. Dogmatic crap tends to do that to the more stupid segment of loyal followers of the flock.
Then you've conceded the point. Thank you. You can't argue that religion is brainwashing people, and higher education is not. You've taken the exact same circumstance, and in one case you've argued that religion is brainwashing, while when higher education does the same thing, that it is not brainwashing.

Who is the RCC Church, Asher?

Are you stupid or are you a coward?
Clearly neither. I would stay exactly where I am, in the Catholic church. Just because other people choose to go off and split from it doesn't make them the Catholic church.

You can stick that death cult crap up your arse. If people gave more of a **** about living well with each other, and a bit less about beating themselves up for perceived 'sins' that are often nothing more than natural human urges, then we'd be a lot heathier as a species and much, much happier people.

If the Pope speaks ex cathedra and said that Paul was talking about those without gene XYZ, but those with gene XYZ could engage in homosexual activity without sin.... you would stay in the Catholic church?

No Ben, you answer all the other questions first and then, only then, I might start decifering your braindead constructs.

Don't put false words in my mouth and don't change the subject, Ben. Lying is against your religion.

They are not called intolerant for believing the contrary, Ben. Some of them are called intolerant for acting on that belief, Ben.

No, Ben, because higher education doesn't start from dogmas. It offers the educated the possibility to make up their mind for their own, Ben. Your "logic", Ben, is so full of holes you have to look with a microscope to find the substance.

Of course not. The whole point was that the ability to have children is not essential. Dumbass.

Marriage is a right, in the same sense that people have a right to work.

Who's sidestepped? My Catholic church would be the one that stuck with what the Church actually teaches, that homosexuality is wrong. If other folks want to split off and call themselves 'Catholic', then so be it. I'll stay where I am.

                                Couple things here.

1, I don't believe the pope ever would do such a thing. That's part of Papal infalliability - that the pope can speak out, but that whenever he speaks ex cathedra, it would be in accordance with what the church teaches.

2, Saying that people with a specific gene can sin, presumes that people have no free will - that they cannot stop themselves from sinning, or overcome their inclinations. This is a very substantial breach from what the Church teaches on redemption. All have sinned, and all can overcome sin by turning to Christ.

Even if the pope were to try - something would happen to prevent him from doing so.

3, Christians have a primary duty to God. While I am required to support the Church, I cannot support the church if she is in the wrong. I would stay, but I would make it very clear that the teaching was in fact false, and that the pope no longer spoke with the authority granted to him from St. Peter. That would lead to schism in all likelihood, where another candidate would be put up, and that candidate would now be pope.

What is far more likely to happen, is just the opposite. The Pope would speak ex-cathedra on the issue, proclaiming homosexuality to be sinful, and a great number of the body would break away and form their own church. That is how it has happened in history, aside from the Babylonian captivity, which had different issues (primarily the independence of the Church from the state), as in France. The captivity wasn't triggered by a doctrinal schism, as was the Great Schism and some of the other smaller ones both before and after.

Technically, I would be permitted to switch over to the Orthodoxy, since they are considered to be part of the same church. I'd have to take that seriously under consideration, as the evidence of the pope speaking out against Christ, would be evidence in my mind that the Orthodox were the True Church of Christ, and that I was wrong.
