1. Do not get anything less than 600cc. Waste of money.
2. You probably don't need anything more than 600-800cc. But you be your own judge of that.
3. Pick a motorcycle that you look and feel comfortable on. I.E. if you look and feel good on a cruiser then get a cruiser. Same for sportbikes.
4. Suzukis are normally cheaper and for the amount of riding you are actually doing why spend a lot.
My first bike was a 500cc suzuki. I enjoyed it and grew out of it fast.
Why is everybody so against the 250cc idea? The bike would mostly be for tooling around my little town. I have no plans to do any highway driving. For about twice the price I can get a triumph Bonneville t100, which looks really nice and comes in at 865cc.
Ok. I am not elevating my opinion over yours or pax's because I have precisely 0 experience. I just want to understand why I would need more engine for non highway driving. I believe that you know way more about this than me.
Scuba is the opposite of adrenaline. It is the most relaxing thing I have ever done. The tt and motorcycle are much more about adrenaline.
There's just something about scuba that get's my pulse racing and makes me feel kind of at risk.

"Capitalism ho!"
A 500cc motorcycle might get up to 100mph, slowly. I'm not sure about a 250cc. Having a slow bike is worse than having an under powered car. You will out grow it. You will wish you had just a little more power. Also, you having a little extra power can get you out of a tight situation. i.e. safety. You don't have to drive fast but when a vehicle is coming at you, you might want to get out of the way fast.

Hey, I've got a TT...although I don't think I've ever seen one of the older models owned by anyone other than a woman.
I don't think we have to worry about the green machine being gay as it is both a coupe and any man driving it must be very secure in his sexuality. On the other hand, I'm sure it is a very fast car.
Because they have no get up and go when you need it. Also as a motorcycle rider half of your safety is avoiding all the other dumb asses on the road who aren't as diligent. A 600cc+ bike should have the get up and go you need without leaving you at the mercy of some dumb blonde in her daddy's convertible. You can actually get out of the way of accidents before they happen.

I would have one if my dad weren't so against him. He'd likely have a heart attack if I owned one.
I wanted to buy one when I was 18 but my dad was so against it I demurred. Also I saw a bad motorcycle accident which made me decide having all the extra steel around me in a car might not be so bad after all.
