  • Yeah, I was thinking of the possibility of a civil case (wrongful death).

    • The idea of acquitting someone in criminal court only to award damages against him in civil court seems repulsive to me. It seems like a legalized form of double jeopardy.

          • Good thing this is going to an official trial. You know, people will hear actual facts and not just as presented by a news outlet.

            • Yeah, I'll be interested to hear the actual evidence presented in court.

Wounds or not, sketchy witnesses or not. The calls for help and the following shot are right there on the call. All that remains is to determine who's calling for help to determine the nature of the shot.
I always scream for help when I murder someone for just the situation that Zman has found himself in.

It's clear as day. If it was Z crying for help he was being dominated by T and only at the last was able to secure the gun and fire. If it was T crying for help he was being dominated by Z and it was an execution.
Whose telephone call was that from? Z's or a witness? If it's a witness then that person ought to have pretty much seen the whole episode and ought to be able to give conclusive testimony. Furthermore, if Trayvon was sitting on top iof him repeatedly slamming his head onto the ground how is it that he was still able to scream for help after 40 seconds of repeated head slamming?

We had a US justice thread here a few years ago (late filing of DP appeal) wherein I pwnd a half dozen US posters including one of our resident US lawyers.

                        It was awesome.

No action was taken against the Judge in question and the complaint against her on this subject was dismissed. In fact the report issued after the uproar the case caused placed much of the blame on the lawyers who after a litany of execution day blunders, sought absolution by engaging in a distorting campaign of disinformation to try the case in the media, causing a public uproar against the Judge, much of which was unwarranted. The report also acknowledges that there is no evidence in the record supporting the computer problems that allegedly delayed the preparation of lawyers' motion.
