    Good point.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Oerdin, perhaps you should change your name to "Breakfast"?

People have fridges. In California you have good fresh produce ALL YEAR ROUND.

There is no excuse. Just get a 'whole bunch of stuff' as you say over there (you pick the mouth watering delicious fruit) and slice, dice and chop and drench in a juice of your choice, add star anise or cinnamon sticks or cloves or powdered ginger, and leave in the fridge in a container.

I make it with some white pepper or chilli flakes or mustard powder.

It beats canned produce any day of the week.

I wouldn't be so worried about calories if you exercise enough, that seems to include lots of protein.

However, that sounds like a lot of fat, unnecessary carbs, sugar, etc. So I'd be more worried about visceral fat, high blood pressure, your organs in general in the future.

Depending on the particular products you buy and consume, there can be a lot of variance between heavy and fatty food, and just plain toxic going-to-kill-you-in-20-years kind of Fukushima stuff.

Hmm, yes. Getting fat... I know this.
Lately, settling down with a steady g/f and constantly eating out, incl. sweets, and reducing workouts from 3-4 times a week to 2, has led me to a) gaining weight, b) somewhat gaining muscle mass ( my lifts have seriously increased).

This means one thing, and one thing only. Cutting & increasing cardio wisely.
So what does that mean for me? effectively?
-Hard Ketogenic eating regimen ( <40gr of carbs).
-obviously, eliminating all fructose intake ( sugars of all forms: sweets, fruit, etc.).
-plenty of calcium, and a well-planned cardio routine, including HIIT. ( extra-careful on this one, I have no knees, hehe)

I guess the question of the day is...

I'm 5'11" and 212 lbs, with essentially only enough muscle to lift food into my mouth. This is the fattest I've ever been, and I used to be a skinny **** with a ridiculously fast metabolism. The girlfriend and I are going to start working out tonight (because she's put on weight recently, too), but neither of us really know what the **** we're doing.

What it means for you is what it means for me as well. All 4 points are the cornerstone of my current activities as well. At the moment I want to lose about 10 pounds more and continue with some martial arts, most likely my old beloved first love, BJJ But I like your take on nutrition as well as cardio. Just never neglect some good power and strength training either.
