You know, continual wars of attrition with Persia was a major cause in the downfall of Rome. Led to budget problems which forced the debasement of Roman currency.
I just had a discussion elsewhere about the causes of Roman decline so the comparison seemed apt."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Of course, someone like gribbler is going to say his chances of successfully gutting those agencies are nil but so are his chances of taking US foreign policy back to the Washington administration."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

How is he not a serious candidate? He's polling well in key states, raising plenty of money, and has an excellent ground game in the campaign. Romney and the rest have hollow support. Ron Paul actually generates excitement in his supporters. Excitement is what gets people to the polls, which is especially important in low turnout primaries and caucuses.Originally posted by Kuciwalker View PostRon Paul isn't a serious candidate. He's polling at an average of 12.4% nationwide. And looses to Obama by an average of 7.7% according to polling.Originally posted by Felch View PostHow is he not a serious candidate?I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara

Gary Johnson is apparently pulling out of the race to run as Libertarian candidate. That might limit Pauls options.

The only polls that really matter at this point are for the early states. Clinton had twice Obama's national support in December of 2007, but Obama's wins in Iowa and South Carolina gave him the momentum he needed to secure the nomination. If Paul wins in Iowa, he could very easily have a bump in time for NH and SC. He's a long shot, but there's definitely a plausible scenario where Ron Paul wins the nomination.Originally posted by DinoDoc View PostHe's polling at an average of 12.4% nationwide. DD only believes and cites polls for the brief moment they might support his inane views.
