I did that back in 2000 in HS as well. Then they got wise and blocked SSH traffic.

I got around this by hosting a web server on my home computer and writing a PHP script to manually proxy the webpages for me.

If they blocked SSH on TJ's network, the student sysadmins wouldn't have been able to run the computer systems and everything would have broken.

Also, you can just run SSH over 443. Unless they're doing deep packet inspection, they won't know it's SSH traffic and not just https.

Opera Turbo is a ****ing joke and is useless for the trend the web is going in -- completely dynamic.

The difference is Opera is ghetto trash, not premium literature. Its UI has always been the worst around and it still looks clunky and non-standard. Its standards compliancy is still flakey even though they claim to be one of the best. The website compatibility is still awful. It's nothing special speed-wise. It's feature bloated with tons of **** no one wants, like IRC clients, mail clients, and inane features like OPERA TURBO.

Opera Turbo also helpfully destroys image quality, another nice Opera Exclusive Feature.

If you travel around you WILL be in a situation where you only have
GPRS signal and a weak one at that... good luck with Safari or IE on
that, not to mention Firefox because you most likely can not even have
Firefox on your phone.
