      2. Yes....

      1. Actually, it is based on a scholarly article:

"We find evidence that industry and size adjusted CEO pay is negatively related to future
shareholder wealth changes for periods up to five years after sorting on pay. For example, firms
that pay their CEOs in the top ten percent of pay earn negative abnormal returns over the next
five years of approximately -13%. The effect is stronger for CEOs who receive higher incentive
pay relative to their peers. Our results are consistent with high-pay induced CEO overconfidence
and investor overreaction towards firms with high paid CEOs. "

        From the conclusions:

"Finally, we find that a portfolio trading strategy going long on firms in the lowest 10% of incentive compensation and shorting the firms that are in the highest 10% earns an annualized return of 5.27%. The profit to trading strategies conditioning on more extreme pay firms are even higher. A portfolio trading strategy going long on firms in the lowest 5% (2%) of incentive compensation distribution and shorting the firms that are in the highest 5% (2%) earns 8.3% (16.37%) per year. The trading strategy earns abnormal returns in every year for five years after portfolio formation. "

A couple of the Apple fanboys at work were dressed all in black and looked depressed all day.

If you check out sites like AppleInsider, people are posting comments like "He was our leader, our savior...there will never be anyone like him again". It's very creepy.
