        Lori:

What kind of food does she like? Pity you don't cook. Even I can cook, (I've done Thanksgivings before!) and if I can do it, so can you.

It would also be the best way to guarantee you a *fun* evening.

Alternatively, fish tacos are always cheap, tasty, and hard to **** up. Fish is cheap (free if you have a pole and some time) and frying is just about the easiest form of cooking out there besides grilling. The level of skill needed is 1) the ability to follow directs and read a clock 2) You have to know how to dice an onion and cut up cabbage.... Yeah, that's about it.

Go to a pupuseria. It's cheap, and there's definitely Salvadorans in Silver Spring.

Tacos it is. Except I'll be using ground beef.

                  Beef! It's what's for dinner.

The corn they feed the cattle makes it extra-delicious. It's adds almost a sugary sweetness to the cow.

In the future, this is a very simple, healthy, tasty meal, that you don't have to be a good cook to make (like, at all):

                      Caprese pasta:

Get three bell peppers. I prefer one each of red, yellow, and orange, simply for the presentation, but your mileage will very.
Chop them up into pieces roughly 1-1.5cm on a side, big enough to cover the prongs on a fork. Throw 'em in a big bowl.
Add in a handful of grape tomatoes, cut in half.
Toss in some basil. How much? However much you want. Fresh or dry. Just to add to the flavor and the aroma.
Salt and pepper, again to taste.
Toss it all in some olive oil, enough to lightly coat the veggies; I also like a dash of basalmic vinegar, but that's optional.
Then, you're gonna mix those veggies with some pasta; I find that penne rigate pasta is best with this dish, for the texture and presentation, but you can do what you want.
Fill a couple serving bowls with the pasta and veggies, and sprinkle some shredded Italian cheese (I prefer mozzerella) on top, and serve.

It is REALLY good, good for you, and filling. I made this for Galnemer on our second date, and she still asks for it all the time.

Wait, fish tacos are a real thing? I mean, I'd heard of them before, but always assumed people were making a slang reference to lady parts. I'm allergic to fish, so it hardly matters in any case.

Also, Felch is right, pupusas are awesome if you can get 'em. With lots of sour cream.

The girlfriend took over the cooking as soon as I arrived home with the ingredients.

                            Edit: Oh, and thanks all.
