The people who enjoy living in Fairfax County are idiots and they should move to Calgary.

I'm not actually convinced the land prices in Fairfax are any higher.

Some googling shows you can buy 1 acre of land for ~300K. I paid $200K on the city limits for 0.1 acre.

Virginia has shall-issue concealed carry permits, and no limits on magazine size. But the river is on the wrong side, and at its best the state is just some sort of bizzaro simulacrum of the greatest state in the Union.

Lori, Dream Wizards isn't anything special, but what's in VA that's any better?

Felch, you're an anti-abortion pro-gun rights guy who doesn't give a **** about political correctness. What are you doing north of the Potomac?

Yes, but wouldn't that be easier in a red state?

I'd rather make Maryland a more awesome state than move someplace that might be more fitting for me.

Fairfax is quintessential upper-middle class American suburbia, for good and ill.

It's not my cup of tea at all, but YMMV. I like riding my bike through it, but couldn't stand living there.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Speed cameras are just a symptom. The heart of the problem is women voters.

NRA HQ is in Fairfax, IIRC.

My girlfriend and I are looking for a range to train on and shoot rifles. Know anything good in the area?

Yes, it's actually less than a mile from my house. It apparently has a really good range.
