While I am most definitely NOT going to play go-between to an extended argument between Guy and my wife, she puts episiotomies in the same category as C-sections: sometimes necessary, but done far too frequently. She adds that most of the risk factors for severe...coochie-rips can be detected far in advance and/or controlled. Beats me, but she's done a fair amount of research, and as it's her crotch, it's her decision. Also, I really don't want to discuss gash-gashes, TYVM.

Not trying to argue. Just preparing you for the possibilties.

Having seen many a birth, and many a coochie-rip, were Galnemer to decide she wanted to pop out some crotchfruit, I would tell her the same.

      Godspeed, you beautiful sonova*****.

Wow, that's pretty cool! Thanks, BK!
You're very welcome. Glad I could be of assistance.

Peru's c-section rate is ridiculously high, even higher than the U.S.'s. We found a place where they'll let you actually pop the kid out unless something goes drastically wrong, in addition to never doing episiotomies (sp?). Apparently that's really good, I don't know--but I figure, hey, women have been squeezing out puppies since before humans were human, surgical intervention probably isn't necessary except as a last resort. Also, the place promises privacy.

With that said, I have informed my wife that I will be a loving helper to her during the delivery, insofar as I will stand by her, reassure her, and never, ever look at anything south of her navel. Especially not once her lady bits starting spinning in circles vomiting like Linda Blair in The Exorcist, which I understand happens around the tenth hour.
Well, you've got guynemer here, so I'd advise to listen to the man. He knows what he's talking about. If you want more fetal development stuff, let me know. Who knew being a prolifer with lots of nursing friends actually has fringe benefits.

Thank you, sir. And BK, my wife thanks you for the site. She has yet to find a single vegetable metaphor.

Xpost; the wife says she'll take a look if you have any other links handy.

However, they can get nasty. A fourth-degree perineal laceration will, literally, give your wife a cloaca.

I actually knew whaty a cloaca was due to a web comic. Let's hear it for questionable content.

I knew it from biology class. You never had to dissect a frog? Well, technically neither did I, we did surplus minks from a fur farm, but I saw the frog diagram with "cloaca" clearly labeled.

Correction: What to expect when you're expecting was recommended as a general pregnancy book, this one was recommended as a week-by-week book

Thanks, Loin, but we actually can't get any books in English in Peru. She has a couple of books she likes, she just wants websites to supplement. Sorry I didn't tell you quicker there.
