Texas Gov. Rick Perry, considered the clear frontrunner in the nomination battle, came in second with 29 percent of the vote.

We're talking about a state run by ballot referendum, where state senators are effectively powerless because three-quarters of their budget is tied up by direct voter decisions--but voters still get mad when the pols can't accomplish anything. It is noteworthy that Paul swings hard in the other direction, but I don't think his idea of how a state should work is necessarily better than theirs.
