          If you're actually planning to drive off a road, get the Forester. It's cruder than the others, but practically indestructible.

          Have you considered the Subaru Legacy Outback? That's a great car.

              To be fair, the dainty Europeans are the ones who didn't have the stones to emigrate to the wild new world. They're more inclined to drive bumper cars in well-paved, straight-lined streets than ever have a need for anything more utilitarian.

                Not at all planning to go off-roading, just winter road commuting.

                Haven't looked at the Outback yet. Was initially turned off by its stationwagon nature, but it's worth a closer look. Thanks.

                  Probably. The Juke is very hard to find and has no incentives because it's selling better than expected.

                  Nissan probably cannibalized its own sales since they're in the same price range.

                                Calgary is flat...pancake flat...and has plenty of well snow-ploughed roads...as for straight-lined streets...you been to Canada?



                                Note the mountains in the distance...whilst the city and its environs are flat and hey...I can spot VERY wide, straight streets with tarmac.
