I don't believe those things. If someone attacked me I would fight back. Christianity doesn't seem very practical.

No... I think it is odd that you think Jesus is God but you won't take his advice. I'm not sure if I can simplify that any further for you.

Actually this is a very common phenomenon. After 9/11 I never heard any Christian say we should turn the other cheek and not get revenge on Al Qaeda. I share their desire to kill Al Qaeda but it does seem to completely contradict Jesus.

Well that one's not difficult. I'm not Christ. Do I think his advice is the right way to go? Yes, absolutely. Do I always do what Christ says I should do? No.

Because I fail to live up to Christ's ideals does not make his ideals wrong. It just makes me a sinner just like everyone else who needs his help to live according to his laws.

I've been slugged like that stood up took the blow and walked away before. The only repercussion was getting my bell rung and the fellow arrested for aggravated assault. I found out that he was arrested when the cop tracked me down and asked me to file a police report. Someone had reported it, I guess. The guy was piss drunk and didn't even recall anything the next day.

I am curious why when I specified that if you hurt my friends that I would protect them, you specify a situation involving harm to myself. Yeah, I'm going to put my butt in the line of fire if that's what it takes to protect my friend. Will I hurt them if they choose to back away? No.

If you don't want trouble, back away and leave my friends alone. I could care less what you do to me, but I won't stand to see them hurt without me intervening. So far I've not had to use physical force to settle an altercation, but I have defused a few.

Bullies for the most part are complete cowards. They will either round up their posse, which usually means you are in for a bad beating, or they'll try to jump you when you're all alone if they feel confident that their size and surprise is enough to carry them through. The last thing they want is intervention from a third party, and most times they will puss out when confronted by one.

You either get a rep as a scrapper or a victim. For me my rep was enough to protect me from most folks.

The cop tracked me down a few months later and got me to come in and take a statement. Apparently I wasn't the only guy this dude attacked.

Well normally if the police find out about something I think it's because it was reported. Unless he turned himself in and said he attacked you or something.

I was out for a walk. He was in his truck. Saw him stop. His friend was driving, so I stopped, thinking it was someone I knew. He got out stumbled around and shouted something at me. I ignored him, started walking away and he slugged me. I was like, ok, walked off and that was the end of it. Then I heard from the cops a couple months later, basically ("oh, you're *that* guy). They had it all on a security camera and someone called it in. Not sure who, as I didn't see anybody else around, but whatever.

The guy pled no contest and I heard about a year later, he had to serve his sentence.
