Oerdin, it's pretty obvious that the main difference for you is that MSNBC is hyperliberal and Fox News is the only conservative news network.

No, the main difference to anyone who can think is that one deliberately lies and the other doesn't. One is a propaganda outlet and the other is a news organization run with journalistic principles. As I said, yes, MSNBC is advocacy journalism with a view point but it still doesn't deliberately lie and it follows all of the principles of journalism. Compare that to Fox which even went to court to protect it's "right to lie" (their words not mine).

Yeah, I'm sticking with my explanation. Considering that you have this magical ability to explain any news item with a conservative conspiracy, Occam's razor suggests that you just hate Fox News because you don't agree with it.

From wiki for anyone who doesn't understand the difference between advocacy journalism and propaganda:

Advocacy journalism is a genre of journalism that intentionally and transparently adopts a non-objective viewpoint, usually for some social or political purpose. Because it is intended to be factual, it is distinguished from propaganda. It is also distinct from instances of media bias and failures of objectivity in media outlets, which attempt to be—or which present themselves as—objective or neutral.

Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position so as to benefit oneself or one's group.
As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda is often biased, with facts selectively presented (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political, or other type of agenda. Propaganda can be used as a form of political warfare.

Fox routinely lies in order to advance the political agenda of the party they're aligned with so it is propaganda where as MSNBC does not lie and sticks to the facts even though they have an obvious view point so they are an example of advocacy journalism. That one group deliberately lies and the other doesn't makes them COMPLETELY different from each other and not even remotely comparable.

That would be because you are an example of either an ignorant or dishonest person. Since the difference between lying and not lying has been explained to you I'm leaning towards the later explanation.

Here's a couple of articles for people to ponder. The First one is written by David Frum who worked in the Reagan administration, Bush Sr's administration, and in Bush Jr's administration (he coined the phrase "Axis of Evil") so he's a dyed in the wool conservative but one who gets flack from his own side for occasionally pointing out problems with his side's positions. I disagree with most of the stuff he writes but in this case he hit a bull's eye. Pay careful attention to what he says about conservative media and the role it plays. "When did the GOP lose touch with reality" by David Frum:

The next is a study which expands on several previous studies showing that Fox News viewers are less informed than any other group who watch other news outlets and are even more misinformed than people who don't watch any news at all. Gee, do you think the intentional lying, omissions of facts, and distortions at Fox might be part of the reason this is true?

Before anyone whines about Huffington Post there is a link to the original study in the article so read that if you prefer.

HC is willfully ignorant. You simply can't explain things to him. He's in for a rude awakening in the real world.

Drake should like this little dig at the baby boomers by Frum:

In the aftershock of 2008, large numbers of Americans feel exploited and abused. Rather than workable solutions, my party is offering low taxes for the currently rich and high spending for the currently old, to be followed by who-knows-what and who-the-hell-cares. This isn’t conservatism; it’s a going-out-of-business sale for the baby-boom generation.

This is how you answer the charge that FOX NEWS went to court to defend the right to lie? That's classic.

Fox News actually did cover the UC Davis pepperspraying incident:

Except they talk about how it's just pepperspray ("it just burns your eyes..." "it's a food product, really") and that they shouldn't be in the business of second-guessing campus security, especially for "liberal" campuses like UC Davis.

You just can't make this **** up.

What do you mean? The sound is coming entirely from the right.

The pepperspraying is the best thing that ever happened to UC Davis. The school is on the map now. (I went there btw)
