More than you, it seems...again. He wasn't proposing raising the debt ceiling, unless you think that's something Obama would be dared to veto. The president would veto a measure to raise the debt ceiling if it doesn't extend the limit into 2013, White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley said in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Looks like DD is more knowledgeable on this issue than you are.

I stand corrected. And agree that Obama is being foolish in that stance.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

It's selfish, not foolish. Obama cares more about the election next year than the good of the country.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

My understanding is that the original "Grand Bargain" plan likely would've had enough votes to pass the House, but the majority of the GOP members would've voted no, and would subsequently overhaul the House leadership."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Hi, just popping briefly in. Does anybody have a reasonable guess what will happen if these jackasses actually let us default? Are we talking recession-gets-a-little-worse bad or former-millionaires-hunt-pigeons-for-food bad? Somewhere in between? Just a rough estimate would be fine.
On a related note, I assume it would be construed as a threat if I were to tell my senator, "if you allow this debacle, we will break into your mansion in a mob at midnight, drag you out of your bed into the streets, and beat you to death in front of your family and/or the secretary you're boning at present." That would be considered a threat, no? I don't think that's fair, as it would really be more of a predictive warning. Is there some special way I could phrase it to get around the law?
Thanks.
