Do you all still take racial jabs at each other now? Or are you the only one, Oerdin?

Oh and we're not your chums from elementary school. The way you're talking, you seem to be just fine with the prospect of being racist in front of complete strangers. Do you go around talking about wet backs to people you don't know? Or do you just keep your racism on the internet and behind closed doors? Does it take a little liquor to bring it out in public?

i thunk it's part of most people's experience of growing up. i know in my group of friends we spent the great majority of our time together mercilessly making fun of each other. when i was in southall, i used to hang around with a lot of caribbean blacks and people from the indian sub-continent and we used racial slurs all the time. obviously when my family moved to the countryside the banter was different because everyone was white.

Get over yourself, you overly sensitive **** nobber. We out in California were always the first to call for equal rights for every group including gays but we never saw equal rights as meaning someone gets special privileges. It meant they got equal rights before the law and got to get in line with everyone else to be made fun of because that's what happened to everyone else. It wasn't ever malicious and instead it was just part of being one of the guys; it's a system which workes/ed very well. If the goal is to gain acceptance then it's a good system as long as you're not shallow skinned or overly sensitive. Call it a group bonding activity if you must. The military worked very much the same way.

Yes, Al, you little neo-Nazi bastard, most people from here continue to do it today. Sure, no one does it in a professional situation nor do you do it with people you don't know but you most certainly do do it with friends whom you have known for a while. Like I said there is nothing personal, it's all light hearted, and it is very much part of the culture plus it really does help people bond so that they get over their varied backgrounds and realize our differences do not matter that much. The end result is everyone has thicker skins and none of us worry about the little stuff even though people become much better friends.

I think it's hilarious that Oerdin in particular missed the point of All In The Family.

edit: In all fairness however, within my group of friends jokes at the expense of someone's race or religion are the norm and we all find it rather amusing. This group includes a mormon, catholics, a native american, several black kids and several asian kids in addition to the white slaveowners/oppressors. One of the black kids is even half-japanese. There's no end to the jokes you can make about that.

Some of you should watch Grande Tourino and watch the scene where Clint Eastwood takes the Loatian kid to the the barber shop to learn how Americans interact with each other by call calling each other's mother's names and making fun of each other's nation origins. It's much the same sort of thing. Watch it and learn how regular Joes interact.

Oh, I got the point but the whole interaction of the rest of the series made the original point mute. IMO the best part of the whole series was when the son gets engaged to a Jewish girl and then we all got to watch as the two sets of parents went ape **** that their son/daughter was marrying outside their religion. It was great especially since so many of the feelings expressed, though completely unPC, were so true for both sets of older parents. Let's just say the older WASP couple were very unhappy that their only male heir had decided to marry a Jewish woman while the Jewish girl's parents were not exactly enamored with the idea of their daughter marrying a nonJewish guy. It's classic TV dealing with sensative topics which never the less are true to real life.

                    • It's amazing how Oerdin thinks what he does with his friends is AT ALL relevant to his postings here. We're not your childhood friends. No one reading your posts here is your childhood friend.

Do you not see the difference between joking with your Arab friend (with whom you have an established relationship) being a terrorist and posting on an internet message board railing against sand ******s, as you do.

Am I the only one cognizant of those being two completely different things?

                        • Stuff it Albie. Given that you decided to post under the name of a Nazi war criminal, Albert Speer, I think I will take my lessons on racial sensitivity else where.

                            • I DID IT FOR THE LULZ!!1!!

What do you want from me? You're the one trying and failing to justify your racist garbage.

At least we know Docfeelgood does it just for the shock. We know David Floyd and Heraclitus are dead up serious. Where do you fit in? I think in the latter, no matter how much you may try to claim your statements about how sand ******s should all be nuked, wet backs this and that, etc. are construed as you just joking like 'regular joes'

I can't re-iterate enough. There's a difference between making some jokes outside of the public sphere at the expense of your friend whom you have a relationship with and railing on an internet message board about wet backs and sand ******s. There's a world of difference. Maybe you should go to Stormfront with your trash.
