albie, i would recommend finding something you like and just going on a musical journey from there. check out the related videos on youtube, the related bands on last fm, stuff on the same label.

of course i would start from here.

This is what I was expecting and the sort of stuff I think of when I think of rock music. You actually like this stuff? I can't begin to describe how abhorrent this stuff is to me.

Yikes. This was a bad idea.

            Things I find abhorrent:

Screaming... what the **** is that about? Flogging Molly, et al.
Unintelligible lyrics (probably as a consequence of screaming)...
**** that seems satanic... like that Megadeath stuff
Obnoxious distorted guitars... who thought the guitar sounded good with that much distortion and then decided that should figure prominently in the songs?
Lengthy musical interludes... I have no interest in hearing some obnoxious distorted guitars do 'riffs' for a full minute or more.

I couldn't even stand even more than a few seconds of most of Ozzy's stuff. Chicago was the best of the bunch.

Distorted guitar is one of the greatest sounds known to man.

Like how "I want to know what love is" is set up. That song is perfectly set up like that. The verses being that slow build, adding more instrumentation, then transitioning into the "In my life..." which builds and builds then pow, "I want to know what love is" with the gospel choir!

That is beautiful. That is perfectly structured.

The Calgary song you posted keeps teasing at the culmination of the build for 2 entire minutes. That **** is actually nearly painful for me. Not pain but there's a mental agony of sorts that comes over me when the build up isn't resolved.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about? I mentioned this when analyzing one of Cockney's own electronic music creations. I can't describe it.
                I agree completely.

Its usage is the problem then. There it was not used obnoxiously.
