Just like Christianity was a cult 2000 years ago. And isn't now.

When Christ was alive, it wasn't really Christianity... rather it was a Jewish cult.

Some people don't want to serve anything. Not their country, not their religion, not anything. They're here for themselves. It's always been that way and will always be that way. That doesn't make it right.
No one should be serving anything or anyone.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

I'd say that both still pretty much are.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

It must be wonderful to live in a world where all writing utensils are just pens, rather than pens and pencils and crayons and stylus and brushes and ....

You are actually even more nonsensical than that, because being a cult has nothing to do with being a group that believes in God. There are plenty of non-religious cults (and have always been).
It is more like you saying that every writing utensil is blue and every blue thing is a writing utensil, despite some writing utensils being blue and some not being blue (and some blue things, like cars, not being writing utensils).

Being an adult and believing in santa-claus, believing Elvis is still alive, meh, your life, your prerogative to waste it anyway you want. Becoming a member of a group on that basis, you're part of a cult.

Somewhat ironic coming from a religious person, isn't it?

You are not using the definition of cult that everyone else uses. Your definition might be one that people should start using, except than they would have to come up with another word for what is now referred to as cult (and your definition already has a word... theist).
So really, you are just being a bit idiotic?
