Love and the pedestal-ization of a particular female are just myths infused into us to prevent our awareness of the biological fact that females are all the same and that we have no reason to be especially attached to any single one. You lose one (or can't have one), **** it. Move on to the next one. Not like there aren't 3 billion female human organisms on this planet.

I usually try not to get all pop-psych on people here, but I really feel as if you only believe this because you've never been in love.

Once, my current girlfriend. Unfortunately, she's about to break up with me. This may sound cliché, but I really can't imagine anyone else in the world, and that's coming from someone who's never felt any affection for anyone else (almost to the point of misanthropy) So, you can understand my frustration; my life won't be the same ever again, and I don't like it one bit.

Really sorry to hear that. Perhaps there's time to save it if you can address the reasons she wants to break up with you?

I can empathise as my first love broke up with me and I remember feeling bereft to the extent that I thought she was irreplacable. But then you move on and realise you're suddenly free to be yourself for a while until you meet the next person. Now after several major relationships, loves and infatuations, I can look back at her and see that if we were to meet now, that she would definitely come last in a list if I ever had to rank them all. Which is a pretty awful thing to say, but it does make my point succinctly.
