and dave, you're trolling, right? i mean fair play if anyone bites, but as a comprehensive view of recent US-france history.

Sadly I think that might be a genuine view in the US of their relations with the French.

I'm sure you know very well what extremely high oil prices would due to the American economy. Even the price of milk would go way up.

You do realize that oil is a fungible commodity, correct? If we're treat Asher's ridiculous scenario as plausible, we'd either buy it from somewhere else as Kuci said or seize Alberta.

You clearly have no concept of how oil logistics work.

It's fungible as in, if given 10 years you could choose to buy more oil from Saudi Arabia than from Alberta. But you need many, many years to build that infrastructure and you'll pay through the nose to build it, as well as more in transportation costs.

I'm assuming the Canadian navy will destroy all American bound tankers with their mighty subs

Tankers are not the most challenging things to sink.

And considering the US Navy can't even figure out how to locate the Canadian subs to begin with....easy targets.

They are also predictable in their paths. There's only so many ports they can dock in to offload their oil.

Who is most of your oil sold to? Do you have the capacity to suddenly sell it all to China?

So basically, there will be milk riots and Americans will get really mad at Canada? And the US will magically stop producing enough oil and importing enough from Mexico and the middle east for its military to function so it can invade Canada?

That's what the pipelines and ports are being constructed for, yes.

China is very heavily investing in Alberta right now and are rapidly ramping that up as well. Chinese companies are buying stakes in major projects to guarantee supply.
