"The deed was done, about 50km north of Rawalpindi and 200km east of Peshawar in the land of many Victoria's Crosses of the Indian Raj, close-up and personal, a gun battle with a team inserted deep into Pakistan, the enemy in the end fighting as manfully as they could, but not enough, and with the pursuit of a decade, the vengeance is duly had with all the relentlessness of our Roman forebearers."
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Now reports are saying Pakistani troops weren't involved. The government was informed as the assault was taking place.

Where are you getting all these quote from? I google them and I get nothing.

And what's with all the comparisons to Hannibal?

"All these"? You mean two? Two quotes?

And did you just not get the first one? It's pretty simple. Hannibal was a Roman Boogeyman, the Romans took a decade to get him in the end(after he escaped the fall of Carthage). OBL is a American boogeyman, it took the same amount of time to get him after 9/11.

And it's a buddy of mine who is a history nerd wrote it on Facebook.

BTW, while I enjoyed the straight-up strutting BHO took to the podium, I think this would have been just as well.

Yeah but Hannibal being compared to Osama Bin Laden makes no sense to me.

Even with regards to the Romans hounding Hannibal, it still doesn't make sense.

After Zama, Hannibal was elected suffete (the Carthaginian version of a consul) of Carthage, enacted populist reforms to the Carthaginian government, and was doing quite well for himself until the Romans, suspicious of a Carthaginian resurgence, demanded Hannibal's surrender. Hannibal then went into voluntary exile and was a military adviser and general for the Seleucids. He then traveled to various courts in the Mediterranean but under Roman pressure, his patrons decided to surrender him. Rather than be captured, Hannibal committed suicide.

Unless Osama Bin Laden became president of Afghanistan and then was living it up throughout the Middle East, then finally committed suicide, I don't see the connection.

You don't see the connection between the two people who were boogeymen for the superpower of the day?
