I was thinking during that scene, "Wow, she's pretty hot for someone with such an asymmetrical face." There's something beautiful in how her face is just off enough to be gorgeous, but if one little thing was moved in any direction, it would be a complete disaster.

Holy ****ing **** that episode was good. I love all of the deviations from the books. I'm convinced the show writers are just better than GRRM. Or at least they are making Version 2 and it's just an improvement on Version 1.

I don't really care much for the moving pieces episodes. There was a little bit of ooh aah in this one, but generally it was setting up for the mid-season battles.

The Jamie-Tyrion scene was good though.

Right now he seems to be killing anyone named Stark, is friends with a Stark, and might have once bumped into a Stark at one point in the past.

Isn't it lucky, then, that the Starks had so many children .

I think it is more GRRM wanted to be different from old style fantasy books where the hero always wins, he never dies, and he always gets the girl. In the first book it looked like Ned was the hero so he had to die just so readers knew GRRM was willing to kill protagonists, once Ned was dead people likely were guessing his son would avenge him so Rob had to die, and from there he was free of the usual reader expectations plus people got even more worried about if their favorite characters would die or not. It certainly has made for more worry and drama for readers so I guess it worked.

The showrunners have indicated they know how it ends and what every character's story arcs are. I don't think they are lying (it'd be just as easy for them to say they'll deal with it when they come to it).

I think we still don't have enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis that the whole series is a Lost-style plot ponzi scheme and that the author has no idea how to resolve it.
