Is this bit true?

According to the books Game of Thrones is based on, Telisa and her unborn baby are not supposed to be slaughtered in this scene. In fact, she’s not even supposed to be there at all.

I sometimes think I'm the only person in the world who likes the Bran stuff.

I like the Bran stuff, even though I'm not overkeen on the fantasy elements compared to the political intrigue. Something about a hopelessly damaged character being a survivor with superpowers.

As huge as the Red Wedding's slaughter is, the mortality rate in the series is so high that it feels more like a statistical anomaly than a world changing event. More characters than usual are being killed off all at once, big deal. It's a cool scene, with the build up in tension, and the way it shatters your expectations, but the books are full of that. Its importance is in destroying the Starks as a conventional force. Without a castle or army they have to survive as either hostages or fugitives. I like where the books go from there, with Arya and Bran. I sometimes think I'm the only person in the world who likes the Bran stuff.

I like them not least because they explain a hell of a lot of background about the series and the world.

Ned's death is arguably more shocking, but it was quick and over. In the books, the Red Wedding is seen from Cat's eyes and has some of the most haunting inner thoughts of any POV chapter in the series. When Cat is pleading in her head for her hair not to be cut because "Ned loves my hair", it was just heart wrenching (esp since she uses the word "loves", not "loved" - and it was right after she was thinking about how her and Ned failed to protect every single one of their children).

Red Wedding is up there for me, but Ned's death took a lot of the impact out of it for me. If the wedding had somehow managed to come first then it might have been different. Strangely enough, I think the most affecting scene I've read in a fantasy book was Death vs. the Auditors in The Hogfather (even when you consider the humor factor). Expanding genres a bit, I'd probably put both of the ASOIAF scenes below "I did it thirty-five minutes ago", Ender learning what he'd done, and several others.

I've been humming Rains of Castamere all day just to see who reacts and how. One person just about freaked out on me.

Does this mean that she lives in the books? Does she give birth or is it a case of "final destination"

Robb marries a different non-Frey girl in the books, doesn't go to the wedding, but is given a contraceptive by her mother to prevent conception, at Tywin Lannister's behest.
