Raped? No, it is not a consequence of getting drunk.
I agree with you. My point is that if you freely give consent while drunk you can not change your mind after the event. If you said yes, without any coercion or intimidation, then you have consented.

Waking up with a bushpig next to you is a consequence, of your own behaviour, that you must accept. Rape, and any other crime, is not a consequence of your own behaviour.

The argument is about whether you can "freely consent" when you are drunk.

You can get to the point where you are no longer in control of the situation.

I know, I have been there.

Most rape victims can't bear going through the accusation, trial process. Because a load of people immediately judge them. "She was asking for it" "He's just gay and can't admit it" etc.

I imagine part of his decision not to charge is that he knows the prosecution case is tiny, not to mention the added humiliation he'd feel.

          CPS Rape Policy is here:

          http://www.cps.gov.uk/publications/p...apepolicy.html
My issue was, why should I assume he was raped at all? You asked" why assume it's not rape?", I flipped it around and said why I come from a different approach.

If you asked "how should his claims be dealt with?", that is something entirely different. I wouldn't dismiss the claims, but even on a prima facie basis, I see no basis to believe him.

And the willingness to press charges indicates a level of gravity greater than a simple article. I agree with your point that people don't come forward.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

Is it the (presumed) fact this policeman was male that has you surprised?

I haven't looked but I'm sure I can find lots of info on police officers worldwide that have been victims of sexual assault.

              I don't think you can.

              Not when drunk.

I can compromise, and say you can consent when you are buzzed.

well usually it is the policemen who rape, not the other way around

I think you have made a faulty assumption. I'm trying to figure out what it was:

                    a) Males don't get raped

                    or

                    b) Police officers don't get raped.
