Yes I like that it's set up to discourage anything from getting done which usually provides the best protection to the general pop. But it gotten to the point that what's good for the people has really taken a back seat to anything that makes the other party look bad.
    SOMETHING has to change.

Sometimes things need to get done and it would be nice if you could actually identify the party(s) responsible for gridlock on necessary items. Your system is very bad for this as can be seen by this thread.

You and I both know the anwser to that question. Republicans were filibustering everything in the run up to the elections because they believed obstructionism helped their cause. A few responsible Republicans in the senate agreed to cross party lines and break the filibuster to pass a continuing resolution to keep the government running until after the election. So it is a ****ing hoot to hear numb nuts like you repeating the sorry line about the Dems not passing a budget when it was the Republicans who blocked passage refusing even to negotiate.

When the other side was deliberately blocking all other options then what do you want them to do?

Yes, it is tiresome to hear but it is also factually correct that Republicans refused to negotiate and deliberately blocked the passage of a budget in late 2010. It's also equally true that the Dems have spinelessly rolled over on just about every Republican demand so it's hard to blame them.

You mean the democrats couldn't even cobble up ONE republican senator? Boy, they suck at compromise.

You just shouldn't be running a country of 300 million people. Everyone likes Forrest Gump, but **** me sideways before he becomes president.

The GOP is excellent at controlling their members and making them vote how they want. Love them or hate them you have to admit they really put the gun to their own members heads so the leadership can get them to vote in lock step when they want them too. It's been that way for decades.

I'm thinking rather than being Forrest Gump-ish, President Obama could run intellectual circles around John Boener and Eric Cantor.

Right, big bad Pelosi instilled the same party discipline that has been a hallmark of the GOP since I was a gamete.

If the Democrats had actually passed a budget as you claim, we wouldn't be at this point. Regarding your bleeting about GOP filibusters, reconciliation exists as a way around that and is in fact the proper use of the procedure when applied to budgetary measures..
