And? I don't talk like a stereotype "Joisey" person.

In the rest of the world it is believed that smart Americans live in the New York, Boston and Los Angeles area. Or perhaps that is how it was decades ago.

Because they lived and worked in NYC and it doesn't sound dumb, it sounds New Yorker.

I can't deal with Bahstan accents either.

            Boston

Just so you know, Barnabas, Boston isn't even relevant. It's a small city that doesn't even have a million people in it. In fact, it's the 22nd biggest US city by population between Baltimore and Seattle. In comparison, Philly is #5 in population, behind only NYC, LA, Chicago, and Houston.

Why doesn't it sound dumb? Why do Jersey and Philly sound dumb and New Yorker doesn't?

Your whole logic is NYC accent isn't dumb because you've known smart investment bankers with that accent. Meet some smart people with Philly or Jersey accents (like that technical guy you made the thread about) and you'll be changing your tune.

That's cause you're a whore. And Jersey people suck anyway.

One time at a computer science conference one of the speakers had a thick southern accent. His paper was good, but despite that I kept expecting him to start hooting on a jug or something.

And what percentage of Harvard students are from the Boston area?

                          Wrong.

                          Harvard Admissions Info

                          Out of state students: 85%
So only 15% are in-state... what percentage of that are actually from Boston? Really, I bet maybe a few percent at most of Harvard students are actually from Boston.

People do that to me all the time.

The accents I don't take seriously are Deep South accents, and ghetto black accents. People who talk to me like that have literally 0 change of being taken seriously or getting anything they want from me, because I automatically assume they have a low double digit IQ.
