The Conservatives are a national party that seeks to have MPs from across the country. They wouldn't say '**** the rest' and give cash or favours to one region or province at the expense of others. The Bloc does. The old Reform did.
Imagine the play in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes if the Reform party (or WCC) had propped up the Conservatives in a coalition of losers.

Stephen Harper is facing questions about a 1997 TV interview where he discusses how parties in the Commons could form a “coalition” to oust Liberals as government even if that party won the “largest number of seats” in the House.
It appears to contradict the Conservative Leader’s campaign message where he repeatedly disparages the idea of a minority government being replaced by a coalition of other parties that won less seats in an election.

They should be. The Liberals need to be appealing to Tory supporters, not crazy NDP supporters. The reason the Tories took power is they stole support from the Liberals.
I can't fathom the point in obsessing over this unless the idea was to turn off Tory supporters. And I doubt the argument that "he's a politician and talks out of his ass and is hypocritical" is going to make people think "hey, I'm going to vote for Ignatieff because he's a stellar human being".

The way to win over uninterested voters isn't to obsess over words spoken 14 years ago. It's precisely **** like this which is why Canada has increasing voter apathy.
No one gives a **** about real issues anymore. It's hyperpartisanism and schoolyard politics. People should pay it no mind. And they don't. Thus the low turnouts.
