If everyone thought burning coal was bad, then why is the US building so many new coal burning plants?

Natural gas is better, and more profitable for Alberta, though.

        • Burning coal beats burning trees.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Because after 50 years of nuclear weapons testing we have absorbed to much radiation to build new nuclear plants

The media in Canada tends to focus on facts rather than hysteria, so I probably know lots more relevant things about the disaster than your average Texan, for instance.

                      • The reactors for Units 1, 2, and 6 were supplied by General Electric, those for Units 3 and 5 by Toshiba, and Unit 4 by Hitachi. All six reactors were designed by General Electric.[1] Architectural design for General Electric's units was done by Ebasco. All construction was done by Kajima.[2] Since September 2010, Unit 3 has been fueled by mixed-oxide (MOX) fuel, rather than the low enriched uranium (LEU) used in the other reactors.[3][4] Units 1–5 were built with Mark I type (light bulb torus) containment structures, Unit 6 has a Mark II type (over/under) containment structure.[5][6][7]
Unit 1 is a 460 MW boiling water reactor (BWR-3) constructed in July 1967. It commenced commercial electrical production on March 26, 1971, and was initially scheduled for shutdown in early 2011.[8] In February 2011, Japanese regulators granted an extension of ten years for the continued operation of the reactor.[9] It was damaged during the 2011 Sendai earthquake and tsunami.[10] Unit 1 was designed for a peak ground acceleration of 0.18 g (1.74 m/s2) and a response spectrum based on the 1952 Kern County earthquake.[5] All units were inspected after the 1978 Miyagi earthquake when the ground acceleration was 0.125 g (1.22 m/s2) for 30 seconds, but no damage to the critical parts of the reactor was discovered.[5]

Build them inland more, problem solved.

I can also say, but without any shred of evidence and beyond a reasonable doubt, that if they used Canadian reactors none of this would have happened.

Ok, I want to know how much influence did the Americans have on building these plants, so close to the coast and not able to predict the ramifications of an eq and tsunami effecting these plants?

but you can still move back home afterward and rebuild in the same spot.
