More on vermonters being morons: They plan to shut down the nuclear plant Vermont Yankee, which produces literally 1/3rd of all of the electricity used in Vermont. Vermont imports about 1/3rd of its electricity already. Every single business and union group has protested this. This may be the first time I've ever seen the AFL-CIO and the Chamber of Commerce lobby for the same thing. Holy crap.If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

All on a presumption of malfeasance by Entergy attempting to dodge a question of piping. The question was posed whether Entergy had any unprotected buried pipe that could be leaking trace amounts of tritium. Entergy answered in the negative in that all their underground piping was concrete lined assuming the question was trying to determine the design of the piping not the absolute likelihood of underground piping developing leaks. This asshat was the 'expert' for hire that had an axe to grind.

Melting! NO!ere are six reactors at the plant, and three that were operating at the time have been rocked by explosions. The one still on fire was offline at the time of the magnitude 9.0 quake, Japan's most powerful on record.
The Nuclear Industrial and Safety Agency estimated that 70 percent of the rods have been damaged at the No. 1 reactor.
Japan's national news agency, Kyodo, said that 33 percent of the fuel rods at the No. 2 reactor were damaged and that the cores of both reactors were believed to have partially melted.
"We don't know the nature of the damage," said Minoru Ohgoda, spokesman for the country's Nuclear Industrial Safety Agency. "It could be either melting, or there might be some holes in them."
