Democratic Party was the classic liberal party in the 1800s. The Republicans came from the Whigs who came from the Federalists who were always interested in using governmental power to help business or effect social change.
Basically goes all the way back to Hamilton vs. Jefferson.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Nor do I think it's appropriate to call Jefferson's Democratic-Republicans 'Democrats'. Andrew Jackson started the Democratic Party."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Mostly because by the time of Whig formation, the Democratic-Republicans were the only major political party after the Federalists collapsed shortly after the death of Hamilton.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

It should be amusing to see if they last. They are providing the signal fee to most for the next few months before starting to charge for it. Will the freebie convince people to pay for this service? I have my doubts."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

We should start a pool predicting when the first complaint about Sun News is sent to the CRTC.
They launch at 4:30pm so I think 5:00pm would be a good guess."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow
