The day part of the Internet died: Egypt goes dark

Let see if i understand?
All he did was transfer power to the VP whom he selected?
So according to the E0yption constitution he is still in control?
Then nothing has changed?

We won't know until we see how the VP, now minus the V, behaves. But I wouldn't assume that his successor is necessarily identical to himself; there are differences between Putin and Medvedev, and in this case Mubarak (the Putin equivalent) won't be hanging around in the background. If it looks like he's still calling the shots, there will be more unrest. Also, the very idea that an overwhelmingly peaceful popular uprising has dislodged his heavy-handed highness after thirty years...that's going to have big consequences in the Arab world. It looks like the Egyptian people are taking responsibility for themselves, and people all over are liking the idea. This is huge. Good for them, I hope it works.
From what I have heard in the news the VP makes Darth Vader look like a wimp.
So, they may have gone from the frying pan into the fire?
I hope nothing bad happens.
Heard on the news that Iran is taking precautions to prevent what has happened in Egypt.
What sort of precautions? Short of shutting down the internet and cell phone networks (which they did do last summer) I'm not sure what else they could do. I suppose they could have infiltrated student groups with with secret policy by now but since they've already arrested most of the student leadership and fired sympathetic teachers I just don't see another uprising starting in Iran soon.
